Bakit Nanghuhusga Ang Mga Tao Sa Kapwa

Quote: "I want to give light but not like the candle. I don't want to lose myself in the process... Generosity and self-preservation should be allowed together."

There is no problem in helping people that surrounds you. Everyone needs help but don't be like the candle where you'll let youself melt. Losing youself is much more painful than losing a person who is der to you. You will be questioning your worth, and will feel abuse. With that you will start to forget how important yourelf is. the person you have given your all will be provided with love and care that he/she needs, yet doesn't deserve. What about you? The person who had given his all who doesn't get the same amount of attention and things he/she had shared to others. In this generation, I can say that a lot of people does that, being such a parasite and brings too much toxic to someone's life.

As a family culture, we are taught to help others who are in need and with that, I tend to help as much as I had to. In the quote I selected, there are a lot of emotions that I felt inside as I read it and that include the pain as if my brain and body reacts and brought a lot of flashbacks inside my head on how I forgot my self worth. The pain I felt doesn't only apply to me, I felt pain for others who had gone through losing themeselves by helping people just like what happened to me. We, who gives will always bring out the best we can without minding that it slowly destroy us only to satisfy the people who always do the taking.

We really can't deny the fact that in our entire existence, we had helped someone and I am not an exception. In my 16 years of existence, I had gone through a lot of experience that includes helping and losing my worth. Last 3 years ago, there is this girl whom I met in school. She was nice and we clicked but the thing is she doesn't recognize how worthy she is to be loved. I always give out my best advice, I was there for her until I reached to the point where I made her problem as mine. I poured my love, attention, and everything I can do to make her feel that she is wanted. After 4 months or so, she found her worth and forgot about me, who was there all her darkest hours. She had found her happiness, found new friends while I'm left alone questioning my worth just like what happened to her, I lost myself without me knowing. The girl who always get into the highest honor list went down to honors instantly, the girl who had her attention divided to everything was only focus on one thing, and the girl who knew her worth was contemplating if she is really worth it to be a friend. She was the fire and I let myself become her candle, who lose herself while trying to do her best to help.

"I want to give light but not like the candle. I don't want to lose myself in the process... " As I read this, there are a lot of emotions I felt inside me and that also include thoughts. A lot of thoughts are running inside of my head. One of those thoughts is what I understand in the quote and that is to reach help to others but don't pour all your heart out , do not be like the candle, don't let yourself melt, don't lose yourself. Do not forget how important "you" is. Always put yourself first, if helping means not minding yourself I rather not help at all. I will only have myself when the time comes where all the people who I extend my help to will forget about me.

Literature teaches us how to live. Literature, makes the reader experience events, meet people through books, fictional character who can make them feel the same joy and suffering that the character or author felt. Just like literature, quotes is the same thing. It can make you feel the joy an suffering that the author felt, the emotions that is poured into the quote. Not only that it, you can learn something from quotes. You can get a lot of ideas that the authors gathered that is out of experience and out of the emotions they felt. That makes both of them special, it mirrors the society, the people and their mannerism

Helping is a human's nature, a response if someone is experiencing something he/she cannot do alone. We can always help people but don't make it reach to the point where you'll let yourself lose in the process of helping someone. With the quote I selected, everyone can relate and with quotes you will learn from the pain and experiences of others. It will make you understand something through this. I conclude we are blessed with quotes that'll educate us

The Overthrowing of Kronus and Birth of Zeus

Nursing of infant Zeus by Amalthea and Melissa

Power is a possession of control or command over others, it gives you authority and supremacy. For the past centuries, power is the most wanted possession that a man wanted to have yet it tends to corrupt minds. They see power as a position or title, which comes with authority and control, and a belief in the form of supremacy over others. Others believe that real power comes from “inside-out.” They maintain that power is the ability of each individual to cultivate by themselves. Real power is increased within a person simply by the choices they make, the actions they take, and the thoughts they create.

Overthrowing of kings after their reign started in Theogony of Hesiod. For some reason, they can’t accept the fact that their reign is over therefore, they do everything to make their reign continue. They kill and if only they could stop time, they will. They wanted to change what the prophecy written but a prophecy is a prophecy no matter how you wanted to change it, it will only have twist of events yet it will end up the same.

Kronus is one of those kings who didn’t want to be overthrown and replaced by his own children. Just like Uranus, Kronus did everything he could in order to stay on his throne. A prophecy, predicted by Uranus, decreed Cronus would be overthrown by his son, to prevent this from occurring Cronus swallowed each of his children; Demeter, Hestia, Hera, Hades and Zeus, as they were born. Rhea, his sister and wife, managed to save the youngest, Zeus, by hiding him away on the island of Crete and feeding Cronus a stone swaddled in cloth. When Zeus was full-grown he forced Cronus to vomit up his siblings and led the Olympians in a ten-year way against the Titans.

Betrayal is involved in getting the throne. Uranus being betrayed by his own flesh Kronus and same goes with Kronus who was betrayed by his own son, Zeus. What is this all for? For Power, they are all greedy to hold power in their own hands. They will do everything just to continue their reign and continue to control everything. Being greedy of power can make you do things you aren’t supposed to be doing.

Today in our generation, society seems to be like that. Betrayal is involved to get what they want which is Power. They want the glory, the praise, the benefits of being in Power. Our world is getting cruel and cruel, because they wanted the power they will colonized a country. The more territory you get, the more powerful you are. And that is how the world works now.

Judgement of Paris

The Three Goddess with the Golden Apple of Discord from jcogtas

Judgement, we can’t deny the fact that we sometimes mistakenly judge someone with the things that our eyes see, with the things we hear and the things that the society spreads. The word is very powerful it can make you or it can break you. People wanted the title and the praise that the society will give so they can be glorified and of course the popularity. It may have positive result yet in the other side of the coin, the people who feels good about judging others and didn’t notice that the one they are judging wrongly are in pain. Being wrongly judge and accuse of a trait you do not possessed may lead you to a broken reputation.

The Judgement of Paris was ultimately a beauty contest between the goddesses Aphrodite, Hera and Athena, but the cause of the beauty contest was due to events at a wedding. The wedding of Peleus and Thetis was a joyous event and all of the gods and goddesses of the Greek pantheon were invited to the celebration, that was all the deities were invited except Eris, the Goddess of Discord. When Eris discovered that the festivities were going on, the goddess decided to make an appearance anyway, and the goddess even brought a wedding gift, a Golden Apple. This though was not a happy gift, for it was aimed to bring forth arguments, for upon it was written the words “for the fairest”. Three of the assembled goddesses immediately claimed the Golden Apple for themselves, each believing that they were the most beautiful of all the goddesses. Zeus was asked to mediate and he commanded Hermes to lead the three goddesses to Paris of Troy to decide the issue. The three goddesses appearing before the shepherd prince, each offering him gifts for favour. He chose Aphrodite, swayed by her promise to bestow upon him Helene, the most beautiful woman, for wife.
As Paris chooses Aphrodite, I personally think that he chooses her as the fairest of them all because of the gift. He was blinded by the bribe that Aphrodite presented, the most beautiful woman to be his wife. It was not Aphrodite who won, it was the gift who won the Golden Apple which is entitled with “To the Fairest.”

“Little things make big thing happen” the quote presented described what happened to the Trojan War. With just that golden apple and the sensitivity of Aphrodite a war commences, as well as the selfishness that Paris showed, the subsequent abduction of Helene led directly to the Trojan War and the fall of the city. All of those aren’t worthy for a 10-year war, too greedy for power, too greedy for praise. It is all because of the trait and the title they want to possessed, just like the society today. They are willing to do anything just to make the favour theirs.

Trojan War

War is a very dangerous and traumatic event that could happen in someone’s life. It can cause a trauma, pain, and sadness to every people who happened to experience the life during war. It may be dangerous yet you can actually learn something from it, you can learn how to appreciate life. If you happen to be a soldier, the painful time to realize how good life is, is when you got hit by the bullet.  Flashbacks are coming into your mind and you’ll remember every single detail of the time you spent it with your love ones. The laugh, the joy, the happiness you felt will come back. You will learn how to be courageous, to think fast, and to move fast because you are currently in the field of war wherein this kind of skills and personality is needed. If you happened to be the family and the society, all of us will learn how to appreciate them, for they fought hard for us, for our safety, and for the country. In war itself, we will learn how to be courageous, since there is no exception. There are only two ways to stop dwelling because of war. It’s either you can get killed literally or you’ll get killed by the pain emotionally.

The story of the Trojan War is the Bronze Age conflict between the kingdoms of Troy and Mycenaean Greece that shakes the history and mythology of Ancient Greece. Trojan War is a war that was never forgotten by many. It is the war that made a mark on lots of literature books. The Trojan War do involves creatures that we couldn’t imagine existing. It has events that could make people think if this is really true or just a pure imagination of the writer himself, Homer.

As of today, archaeologists are investigating where could this war have took place and they have already uncovered increasing evidence about the kingdom. According to Near Eastern Archaeology, The German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann uncovered a site, known as Hisarlik, which many experts believed that this is the well-known city of Troy. The city discovered is clearly destroyed during the Bronze Age War.  In that case, we can really say that the Trojan War may happen yet it may not be like how Homer described it on his stories. Due to lack of evidence at Hisarlik, experts and archaeologists continue to think whether or not the Trojan War took place. There may be events that are similar but we can actually tell that he uses real places for his story if experts will find a better evidence to make it believable.

What I learn after knowing the story of Trojan War, I learned that be careful of the gift that the gods and goddesses blessed you. Just like what happened to Paris, for the goddess Aphrodite bears his desire he wasn’t able to think about the consequence of his choice. A war commence because of a piece of apple. Other than that, I learned how to control everything around me since I believe that small things can be turned into something big. I learned how to be wise in decision making, to think about the consequence first before deciding, to think about the people surrounding me before taking up an action. Because we don’t know your decision can cause a 10 year war, just like what happened to Paris.

The story of Trojan War, started when Helen of Troy was abducted due to Judgement of Paris wherein he chooses to be with the most beautiful woman in the world. Can a woman be the reason for war to commence? That is a question that popped out in my mind when I found out and read the story.

The story Trojan War taught us that “Big things started and comes from small actions” and this quote can be the best quote to describe what happened to the Trojan War. It may not be real yet it teaches us great values and lessons that we could bring on as we grow old. Some of us comes to realizations that even the goddess can’t be everyone’s favorite, and that opens me the thought about coating myself with what the others want me to be can still make people hate me, I come to realizations that I rather be myself that to coat it with the others want to see. And I believe that this is the most beautiful thing that this story had taught me. Other than that, I conclude that war can never be an answer to conflicts.

In the dictionary, Happiness is the state of being happy and contented. Everyone has their own definition of happiness. I also have my own understanding and definition about it. For me, happiness is when I do what I want to do, when I fulfil my dreams, and when I cross out the negativity in my life. It is the feeling that comes over me if I know that my life is in good state.

In the poem Desiderata by Max Ehrman, it is all about reminding people to treat others kindly, to accept who they are, and who you are, lastly is be gentle to ourselves. In this poem, I need to learn the part wherein being gentle to oneself is important. I was too harsh to myself, I always think of others first before me without minding all the pain that it made me go through. I am a type of person who understands a lot, who keeps on making my pride low as possible and because of that, I want to learn on making myself as my top priority. I have been too understanding and forgiving to people, but I can’t understand myself and forgive myself for all the wrong doings I did. Aside from that is, I also need to learn how to let go of the toxic people in my life. I am having a hard time in doing this, for the reason that this people was once a positive human beings, and I believe in the thing called second chance. I need to learn how to choose people who is deserving and who is not.

The poem did help me, it may not help me in resolving my problems fully but it did make me realize and it made enlightenment within myself. It made me realize about that I need to think about myself too and to not always think about what others will feel.

Some says that success is the key to happiness, but I believe the other way around. Happiness is the key to success. If you’re happy, contented, and gentle to yourself there is a big possibility that you’ll succeed in life. For you already know who you really are, what you are capable of and what are your weaknesses. There are a lot of things that can help you know yourself more, and that can help you enlighten up yourself. And one of it is poems. Desiderata is one of the things that helped me out, and I will forever keep the meaning of this poem.

Reflection: Pakistan Earthquake Preparedness Plan

The world is divided into seismic zones based on the tectonic plates. Earthquakes are the evident shaking of the surface of the Earth. If we look into a map of the world’s earthquakes, it shows that most of them lie in narrow zones, often around the edges of the continents, or in the middle of the oceans. A good example of this is Pakistan or officially known as Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a populous multiethnic country in South Asia. It is geologically located in the Indus-Tsangpo Suture Zone, which is roughly 200 km north of the Himalaya Front and is defined by an exposed ophiolite chain along its southern margin. Pakistan’s most remembered earthquake they’ve experienced is the Kashmir Earthquake that happened last October 8, 2005 that has claimed over 730,000 lives, affected over 2.5 million people and damaging over millions of infrastructures. It is imperative that buildings in Pakistan should withstand the seismic hazard to which they are exposed. However, most of the building structures of Pakistan are brick masonry with 62.38% of the people uses this kind of structure which is not earthquake resistant. In line with that, they created a Building Codes of Pakistan (BCP) to further improve the resistance of the structures in Pakistan.

Aside from the BCP, they implemented National Disaster Risks Authority. This organization collaborated with several organizations such as UNDP’s Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery (BCPR). One of the programs they have launched is the Earthquake Risk Reduction and Recovery Preparedness Programme to conduct Earthquake Risk Assessment to raise awareness and part of their action plan is to organize awareness in media, workshops/seminars, to apply the disaster curricula in school education to give information to formal and non-formal education system.

Block Masonry in Pakistan

Damage brought by the Kashmir Earthquake

Based on what we have researched, they weren’t able to strictly maintain the ordinance and importance of their Building Codes of Pakistan since the most of Pakistanis use structures that aren’t earthquake resistant. Although the materials used for those structures are accessible which is beneficial to the people, it isn’t right not to follow the rules. But the good thing of the emergency plan of the Pakistan is that they ensure the safety of their people by educating them of what could happen during an earthquake.

Preparedness for this major natural disaster is a necessity since this is something beyond our control and what we could do is to lessen the casualties and/or the negative consequences it brings. There are action plans that should be strictly implemented most especially the seminars and drills since these are the basics to know what the people of Pakistan must do when earthquakes happen or what they must prepare before this natural disaster strike.

Just like Pakistan, Philippines also have its own organization that gives information about earthquakes, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) for Philippines and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for Pakistan. These organizations give out seminars and lessons on what their citizens must do whenever there is an earthquake. The difference is that the Philippines has more detailed emergency plan because in their emergency, it was stated on what equipment they should prepare before the earthquake happens and the ‘duck, cover and hold.’ Another difference between them is their building structure. As mentioned earlier, most people in Pakistan uses the brick masonry, where this kind of structure is not stable and lacks the ductility that buildings should have in order to withstand earthquakes or in simple terms, they cannot flex without breaking. Most of the building structures in Philippines uses RC building, this type of building consists of a frame or skeleton of concrete.  Horizontal members of this frame are called beams, and vertical members are called columns. Of these, the column is the most important, as it is the primary load-carrying element of the building. If you damage a beam or slab in a building, this will affect only one floor, but damage to a column could bring down the entire building.

Pakistan’s emergency plan is much more centered around providing aid and risk assessment, this is due to their country not being an archipelago unlike the Philippines. The Philippines Emergency Plan and Earthquake Preparedness is much more centered around the damage reduction and reducing the loss of life in affected in areas. Philippines geology and being an archipelago makes it difficult to provide relief and help thus affected areas have to rely on the local government not on the national government.

Due to Pakistan’s location, it is very prone to earthquakes and it’s no doubt that their government has prepared precautions and emergency plans to prevent themselves from being crushed from nature’s wrath. Overall, Pakistan is not totally ready for earthquakes. With their poor building structure and lack of emergency plan, although it is an advantage for them that they are not an archipelago not unlike the Philippines. Pakistan is likely to suffer great effects when there is an earthquake. However, this is not guaranteed to actually happen since it depends on the magnitude and the intensity of the earthquake that is to happen. Improvement and further development of the country’s safety is never too late. It is still early to make changes. Lack of preparation and knowledge can cause chaos than to be ignorant, it is rather better to be prepared and safe than to be not because a person who is not ready at all times or are ignorant to what is happening to the country is more likely to experience negative effect.

ROMEO AND JULIET SOUNDTRACK

Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare early in his career about two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families. It was among Shakespeare's most popular plays during his lifetime and along with Hamlet, is one of his most frequently performed plays.

I. Forbidden Love - Abel Korzeniowski

Act 1, Scene 5: This is a classical music that can describe the situation where Romeo and Juliet met and fall in love. This can also be a good classical music that can describe their situation. Slow to fast beat type of classical.

II. They Don't Know About Us - One Direction

Act 2: The song "They Don't Know About Us" will actually describe the memories or the sweet moments of Romeo and Juliet that the people didn't know. Their families are rivals therefore, they will not assume that there is something between the both of them. From the title itself, they don't know how deep Romeo and Juliet's love for each other.

III. Til' Death Do Us Part - Kait Weston

Act 5, Scene 3: This is where Romeo killed himself because without Juliet, his life is worthless. This will be a perfect fit for the scene.

IV. Almost Is Never Enough - Ariana Grande ft. Nathan Sykes

No specific act and scene. This will refer to the whole play or the love story of Romeo and Juliet. Lots of almost, they never end up with each others arms where they will live together. For the both of them almost will never be enough.

V. The Heart Wants What It Wants - Selena Gomez

I choose this song for it describes their love. The heart know what it wants, Romeo and Juliet's love story is somewhat like a love at first sight. Their hearts already knew that they want each other.

VI. Sad Beautiful Tragic - Taylor Swift

This song will describe everything about the play. The story is a sad beautiful tragic, this will make you cry and will feel something heavy inside your chest. Their love is a sad but magical love, people will always remember how tragic, beautiful, and magical their love story is.

"ACT FAMILY DAY 2019"

January 27, 2019 was the day where we celebrated the ACT Family Day. I was there together with my sister (Nina Faith Quiachon) a Grade 7 student, my mom, and my stepfather. They are actually late (My mom and stepfather) but they still made it that made me happy. What is family day if my fam is not there? I actually want my father to be there but still I appreciated my step-father's effort in making our family day work out and super extra.

I enjoyed my 3rd family day in ACT because of my friends also that I do consider as my family. Especially to my VDAC Family who danced during the activity. I may not dance with them but my heart do dance with them. I don't have that much pictures with my friends but that means I did enjoyed my day because I don't have time to take a photograph. I will rather live the moment to be with them than to face my phone always.

This Family Day was extra for me but it will be more extra if my dad will be here with me, but unfortunately he's not here since he work overseas. I did a lot of documentation also for him since he wants to be updated about the stuff I did during the day.

Family is always there for you so do treasure them at all cost and I will do the same.
